How do I know what my business is worth?

There are industry rules of thumb but many variables affect market price (including things you can control as a business owner, and things out of your control). Through Exit Advisor, you can request an appraisal ("lite valuation") or formal business valuation from a licensed valuer ($5k-10k) which may be taken off the broker's fees if you engage them to then sell your business. Exit Advisor does not do valuations, nor does Exit Advisor employ valuers. It is simply an intermediary service.

Do I need to engage a broker?

We don't tell anyone what to do, we simply provide the tools for business owners to self-navigate through the process as they wish. Review information and other resources on selling your business (how to sell, what to do before selling, how to select a business broker/agent, how long a typical business sale process takes, common agent fees, optimising your business' value before selling etc). We suggest it is worth engaging an accredited business broker to sell your business, however if you are not yet ready to do so, or would prefer your accountant sell your business, that is your choice. By and large, business owners who use business sales experts (business broker or sale adviser) with relevant specialty to their business (industry, size, region) are likely to see much better results.
